Many of our customers enjoy watching military documentaries and movies, so we'll be featuring a list of some 'must see' military-oriented DVDs here each month. If some of your favorites aren't on the list, please use the Contact Us form to send us your suggestions!

Band of Brothers - This miniseries presents the story of Easy Company (506th Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division) and their experiences from boot camp until the end of World War II. It is based on renowned WWII historian Stephen E. Ambrose's book 'Band of Brothers: E Company, 506th Regiment, 101st Airborne from Normandy to Hitler's Eagles Nest' which was drawn from interviews with survivors of Easy company and soldier's journals and letters.

Patton - This epic movie tells the tale of General George S. Patton, the famous U.S. tank commander. It begins with his command in North Africa and then covers the invasion of Germany and the fall of the Third Reich. This critically acclaimed film wom eight Academy Awards, including Best Picture.

Black Hawk Down - This movie (based on the fascinating book 'Black Hawk Down: A Story of Modern War' by Mark Bowden) re-creates the ill-fated Special Forces action in Mogadishu, Somalia in 1993. A mission that was planned to take less than an hour turned into a 16 hour ordeal when a Black Hawk helicopter was shot down by a rocket-propelled greande. It is a fascinating look at that battle, as well as an illuminating look at modern urban combat.

A Bridge Too Far - This movie (based on the book 'A Bridge Too Far: The Classic History of the Greatest Battle of World War II' by Cornelius Ryan) features an all star cast. It recreates Operation Market Garden, an ambitious plan intended to put an early end to the fighting that proved to be a disaster for the Allies.

Tora! Tora! Tora!Tora! Tora! Tora! - This novie recreates the attack on Pearl Harbor and the events leading up to it. The movies starts with the collapse of diplomacy between Japan and the United Staes, and then recreates the devasting battle in amazing detail.

The Dirty Dozen - This action packed World War II thriller was a box office hit in 1967. It features an incredible ensemble cast of top actors in an action packed tale of an army major who trains and disciplines a squad of prisoners for a suicdie mission into Nazi occupied France.

TIP: A great way to see more DVDs is to sign up with a DVD by mail service such as Blockbuster Online. You select the DVDs you would like to view from your computer, and they are delivered directly to your home. When you are finished viewing them, you put them in the included postage-paid mailers and send them back. As soon as each DVD arrives back at the service, another DVD from your list is mailed to you. This is a great way to see many new DVDs without the hassle (and expensive gasoline) incurred in visiting a local video store. It is also relatively inexpensive, with a typical plan costing just $17.99 per month allowing three DVDs to be out at the same time.

Blockbuster Online currently has a special deal allowing you to try their service for just $9.99 for the first month. Click on the following image to go to their website and learn more about that offer.
