The twin-engine U.S. P-38 Lightning was used extensively as a long-range escort fighter, and it was also used for ground strafing, level and dive bombing, and photo reconnaissance missions.
This 1:18 scale version of the P-38J Lightning is the 'California Cutie', which was the fighter flown by 1st Lieutenant Richard Loehnert in 1944. The plane is shown with D-Day invasion striping, which was used by Allied aircraft during the invasion of Normandy to lower the danger from friendly fire during the massive operation.
This impressive 1:18 scale P-38J Lightning is approximately 25 inches long with a wingspan of 35 inches, and features authentic markings and landing gear that raise and lower.
