The U.S.S. New Jersey (BB-62) is an Iowa-class battleship. First seeing service during World War II, the New Jersey later saw action in the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and finally in the Lebanese Civil War. The New Jersey became a museum ship in 2001.
The USS New Jersey's main battery consisted of nine 16 inch guns in triple turrets. These guns could fire 2700 pound shells 23 miles. The New Jersey's secondary battery consisted of twenty 5 inch guns in twin-gun turrets. In 1982, the New Jersey was outfitted with four Phalanx CIWS mounts and missle launchers for Tomahawk and Harpoon missiles.
