U.S. F-86D Sabre Dog - Tiger Sharks

U.S. F-86D Sabre Dog - Tiger Sharks The F-86D Sabre (also called the Sabre Dog) was a transonic all-weather interceptor jet. Based on the F-86 Sabre, the Sabre Dog featured a larger fuselage and larger engine, and sported a distinctive radome on its nose to support its sophisticated electronic systems. It featured a retractable under-fuselage tray that carried 24 Mark 4 rockets, which were consider more effective against enemy bombers than cannon fire. In 1952, a F-86 set a new speed record, which was broken the following year by another F-86 that reached over 715 mph.

This die-cast 1:72 scale U.S. F-86 Sabre Dog is part of the Wings of Fame Series from Falcon Models. It depicts an F-86D Sabre Dog from the 75th Fighter-Interceptor Squadron (Tiger Sharks), 519th Air Defense Group as it was seen in 1953.

This highly-detailed die-cast U.S. F-86 Sabre Dog is approximately seven inches long and has a wingspan of approximately 6.25 inches. It has many detailed features, including a detailed cockpit with an opening canopy and optional position landing gear. It features the eye-catching 1953 paint scheme of the Tiger Sharks, including the squadron's Tiger Sharks emblem on the fuselage and a shark's mouth on the engine air intake. It comes complete with a display stand.
