The Russian Ilyushin Il-2 is generally considered to be the best ground attack aircraft of World War II. With a two person crew consisting of a pilot and gunner, it excelled at tank killing due to its accuracy when dive bombing and its 37 mm guns which could penetrate the thin back armor of tanks.
