The U.S. SBD Dauntless was the standard shipborne dive bomber of the U.S. Navy from 1940 until late 1943. It was a critical part of the U.S. forces in several key engagements, including the Battle of the Coral Sea and the Battle of Midway. The Dauntless damaged all four Japanese aircraft carriers at the battle of Midway, and also sank one heavy cruiser and severely damaged a second cruiser.
The A-24 Banshee was the U.S. Army version of the SBD, and A-24s were used at Java and to defend New Guinea during the early phases of World War II.
This highly detailed 1:72 scale version of the U.S. A-24 Banshee depicts aircraft '41-15755' as it was seen over Java during 1942.
This U.S. A-24 Banshee is part of Hobby Master's Air Power Series. The 1:72 scale die cast metal aircraft is approximately 6 inches long with a 7 inch wingspan, and includes detailed features such as an opening cockpit, and rotating propeller and wheels.
