Built by North American Aviation, the F-86 Sabre quickly became the primary jet fighter of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and distinguished itself in combat against its adversary - the MiG-15bis.
This extremely accurate 1:18 scale version of the F-86F-1 Sabre is approximately 22 inches long and is full of the exquisite detail you've come to expect from 21st Century Toys including a deep jet intake and a deep jet exhaust with turbine face detailing as well as highly accurate panel lines, AIM 9 Missiles and long range drop tanks.
This F-86F-1 also features retractable landing gear (with accurately turning nose wheel), sliding canopy (with remarkable cockpit details including nylon seat belts), removable gun bay doors with finely detailed .50 caliber machine guns and extendable speed brakes. This Sabre also has many movable flying surfaces with a full range of motion including ailerons, elevators, flaps and rudder.
This version of the F-86F-1 features the paint scheme of 'Mitch's Squitch', which was the aircraft flown by Col. John W. Mitchell (Commanding Officer of the 51st Fighter Wing) of 39th Fighter Squadron, 51st Fighter Wing and flown out of Suwon AirBase in South Korea circa 1953.
