The B-25 Mitchell is an American twin-engined medium bomber that was named after General Billy Mitchell, who was an early air power pioneer, and is the only American military aricraft to be named after a specific person.
The B-25 was used against German and Japanese targets in every combat theater of World War II. B-25s were used in the famous Doolittle Raid in April 1942, in which 16 B-25Bs were launched from the USS Hornet and successfully bombed Tokyo and other Japanese cities.
The B-25J was the final version of the B-25 Mitchell. The solid-nose B-25J variant carried an impressive total of eighteen .50 caliber guns - eight in the nose, four in under-cockpit packages, two in the waist compartment, two in an upper turret, and a two in the tail. No other World War II bomber carried as many guns!
This U.S. B-25J Mitchell is part of Forces Of Valor's Enthusiast Edition series, which is the extremely detailed version of this aircraft. The 1:72 scale die cast metal aircaft is approximately 9 inches long and has a wingspan of approximately 12 inches.
