The world became aware of the Messerschmitt Bf. 109 during the Battle of Britain. It is to this day Germany’s best known fighter. Its success lay in its maneuverability and its accurate and stable handling. Throughout WWII, new models were developed. The Bf. 109-G “Gustav” was among the best. The first G-6’s were delivered to fighter units in 1942 and saw extensive service on the eastern Front.
This highly detailed 1:72 scale die-cast version of the Bf. 109 G-6 depicts the aircraft flown by Luftwaffe ace Horst Carganico during World War II. This plane features Carganico's famous oversized 'Mickey Mouse' emblem on the side of his aircraft. Mickey's two shoes represented the two times he was forced down behind enemy lines and had to walk back to the German lines.
This 1:72 scale die-cast Messerschmitt BF109G-6 is part of the Witty Wings' Birds of Prey series. It is approximately 5 inches long with a wingspan of 6 inches.
